Pop Art
Pop art was an art movement during the 1950s and was discovered in England and also later on in the united states.This movement was influenced from the ideas of dada movement. Pop art includes imagery from popular cultures such as advertising and news. The main characteristics of pop art are bold, simple, everyday imagery and energetic colours. Pop art message in posters were important but the visuals were very important too. The word Pop Art means popular, art and have different definitions such as transient, expendable, low-cost, mass-produced,young, witty and sexy.

Andy Warhol was an american artist, draftsman, filmmaker, painter and printmaker he worked in several movements such as pop art, video art and postmodern art. During the pop art movement his work reflects product of the technological revolution during the 20th century.
In the 1950s he worked for the Glamour magazine and from there he became very popular for commercial work. Andy won several awards for his unique style that includes blotted line technique and rubber stamps.

This is one of Andy pop art in vogue magazine. As one can notice at that time bright colours were very popular. Andy used the red colour to show glamour and to withdrawal viewers attention.
He was one of the most famous artists in New York and his famous works were of Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Mick Jagger and mao Zedong. His work was very famous and by time his work became very expansive in fact the Eight Elvis's portrait was sold for 100 million dollars in 2008 and this was one of the world valuable paintings in history. Other works from Andy were soup cans and sensational newspaper stories after these illustrations he became very popular with pop art. He also worked on several product packagings such as coca cola bottles, coffee can labels, brillo soap and other items. After Andy became popular Valeria Solanis shot Andy because he did not let her use her script in one of his works.
These two pictures shows pop art style. The one on the right is Warhol work of Marilyn Moonroe which was very popular. He used bright colours and many of his work was done by silk-screen. On the left one can see a modern portrait of Lady gaga that was influenced by Warhol. The artist who made this portrait mentioned that the colours in lady gaga portrait are very bright so the picture can grab views attention. The two picture are very similar the hair colour, eyeshadow colours and lipstick colour.
This is another pop art from the artist Peter Blake who made several graphic design albums for Elvis Presley and the Beatles. In this picture one can see cutouts of different celebrities. With the pop art he won an award for the best album cover in graphic arts
