De Stijl originated in Holland Amsterdam 1917 and was influenced from the international Avant Gardes in the 20 century.De Stijl means body of work and it represent the abstraction horizontal and vertical lines forms and colours. The most colours that were used in De Stijl were the primery colours with black and white. In these 2 pictures one can see 2 different artwork that were designed from Theo Van Doesburg and Piet Mondrian from the De Stijl movement. The two artworks have many similarities beginning by noticing the composition. Compositions is divided in many squares and rectangles with different black lines which their size are different. Anther aspect that is in common and also I mentioned earlier are the colours. The two artists used the primary colours red yellow and blue with the touch of white space and a few black boxes. Although they used the primary colours they are different for example in Piet Mondrian artwork colours are more warm and dark and in Theo artwork colours are more light.
In todays life artists and graphic designers are being influenced and inspired by the past. In this photo one can see a graphic illustration inspired from the De Stijl period artist Theo Van Doesburg. As one can see there is a portrait of a human that shows only part of his face such as ear in a square box eyes in another one and also other parts of his body. The squares are very similar to the other photos of Theo Van Doesburg and Piet Mondrian. |
These pictures shows the famous red and blue chair that also was designed during the de Stijl period. The chair is designed on the influences of lines and primary colours and one could relate this with Theo and Piet work. Modern things are being influenced from the red and blue chair. As one can see in the picture above things are being made with the same colours and shapes.
